Baku Completes 60 km Micro-Mobility Network with Cycle and Scooter Lanes

Azerbaijan (Commerce Desk): In Baku, Azerbaijan, 15 km of new micro-mobility lanes were constructed across 15 streets and two districts in 2025, bringing the city’s total micro-mobility network to 60 km, according to Anar Rzayev, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA).

Rzayev shared this information during a roundtable on the 2025–2030 Transport Infrastructure Improvement State Program for Baku and its surrounding areas. He stated that bicycle lanes are being connected in phases to create a continuous micro-mobility network.

Since the introduction of the infrastructure, micro-mobility modes have been used 4.5 million times, covering a total distance of 13 million km. To reduce the risk of collisions with vehicles, protective barriers have been installed, and bicycle sections have been added to traffic signals, with work still ongoing.

Additionally, the capital now features 700 scooter parking spaces and 564 bicycle parking spaces, enhancing the usability and safety of micro-mobility options in the city.
