Nakhchivan (Turkey News): The issue of Western Azerbaijan is deeply and inseparably linked with the historical memory, national identity, and spiritual heritage of the Azerbaijani nation.
Jeyhun Jalilov, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, speaking at the “Return to Western Azerbaijan” 3rd Festival-Congress, said that this issue has always been given special importance at the state level.
He stated that the national leader of Azerbaijan consistently focused on the plight of compatriots who were expelled from Western Azerbaijan and considered the protection of their rights as an important national responsibility.
He further said that studying the forced migrations and ethnic cleansing policies carried out against the Azerbaijani people in different periods, and conveying these facts to the international community, is an important duty of both the state and society.
According to him, as a result of this political continuity, significant steps have been taken to preserve the nation’s historical memory and to systematically research historical facts.
