Brussels (Monitoring Desk) Amnesty International has appealed to the European leadership to take immediate steps to suspend the trade agreement between the European Union and Israel.
According to Amnesty International, 21 April could be a decisive opportunity regarding this agreement, when a meeting related to the implementation of the global alliance for a two-state solution will be held in Brussels.
The organization said that the leadership of Germany and Italy will play a key role in the meeting, and in this regard, the German President and the Italian Prime Minister should be contacted via email to demand the suspension of the agreement.
Amnesty International has taken the position that the European Union should not support any such action that strengthens alleged human rights violations by Israel, illegal occupation, and discriminatory policies.
According to the organization, the European Union is Israel’s largest trading partner; therefore, it should make a concrete and effective decision in this regard.
Amnesty International further stated that countries such as Germany and Italy can influence this agreement at the European level, while Israel is also being accused of serious violations of international law in actions against Palestinians in Lebanon.
The organization also claimed that Israel ignored international law during operations in Lebanon, and domestically, strict measures against Palestinians include laws such as the death penalty.
