Occupied Kashmir (Monitoring Desk) According to a report by the Kashmir Media Service, children in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are allegedly becoming one of the biggest victims of Indian state violence.
The report states that under the Modi government, children in occupied Kashmir have been severely affected by military operations and the impact of violence, while the decades-long situation has deeply impacted the lives of minors.
According to the data, out of 96,497 killings in occupied Kashmir since January 1989, 933 were children. The report also claims that more than 108,000 children have become orphaned.
It further states that after 2010, the use of pellet guns and tear gas has caused several children to lose their eyesight, while some minors were allegedly killed in fake encounters and others arrested under various laws.
According to the report, human rights activists and pro-freedom leaders have called on international organizations to take immediate steps for the protection of children in occupied Kashmir and ensure their basic rights.
The United Nations and organizations such as Amnesty International have previously also issued reports on the situation in occupied Kashmir.
Experts say that concerns over the situation of children in the occupied region are increasing, and the international community needs to play its role in this regard.
