Air India Grounds Boeing 787 Dreamliner Fleet

Mumbai (Monitoring Desk): Air India has grounded its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft after a pilot reported an issue with the fuel control switch during a flight. According to the airline, this is the same system that was at the center of investigations into last year’s fatal crash.

As a precaution, the aircraft have been removed from service, and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) has been called in to immediately review the pilot’s concerns. The airline has also informed the Indian aviation regulator about the matter. Boeing and the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation have not issued any response yet.

Air India, owned by the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, faced intense scrutiny and criticism following the Dreamliner crash in June 2025, which killed 260 people. After the incident, all Boeing 787 fuel control switches were inspected, and no faults were detected at the time.

According to news reports, cockpit recordings from the June 12 crash indicate that the aircraft captain had shut off fuel flow to the engines, a detail that has been included in initial U.S. investigations.
