After 9/11, Pakistan Used in Proxy Wars: Khawaja Asif

Islamabad (Turkiya News): Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks have still not been identified. He emphasized that the tragedy was not carried out by any Afghan, Pashtun, or Hazara. However, following the incident, Pakistan was drawn into proxy wars and later abandoned.

Speaking in the National Assembly, he said he largely agrees with the remarks of the opposition leader and Raja Pervez Ashraf. He recalled that there was a time when visas were not required between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and travel was permitted on passes; he himself had traveled to Afghanistan without a visa.

Khawaja Asif noted that Pakistan became a participant in two wars fought on Afghan soil, pointing out that Russian forces entered at Afghanistan’s invitation and no jihad was declared against them. He criticized that Pakistan’s educational curriculum has not been restored, and historical narratives were altered, adding that the US left Pakistan but the country failed to learn lessons.

He stressed that 9/11 was not orchestrated by Afghanistan, yet Pakistan remained involved in proxy wars afterward, and one individual turned the country into a frontline state to appease the United States.
