Gwadar (Turkiye Khabar) Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced a significant reduction in tariffs to transform Gwadar Port into a regional trade hub. According to the Federal Minister, the berthing fee for container ships has been reduced by 25 percent, while port charges on international transshipment containers have been cut by up to 40 percent. In addition, port charges on transit container cargo have also been reduced by up to 31 percent.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, while announcing one month of free storage facility for general cargo, said that major relief is being provided to ships carrying transit and transshipment cargo. He stated that record incentives are being offered at Gwadar Port compared to other national ports, and practical measures have been initiated under the policy to make Gwadar a regional logistics hub.
The Federal Minister said that the new tariff will significantly reduce the operational costs of shipping companies, while an increase in cargo handling will promote economic activities. According to him, the initiative is also expected to create new employment opportunities and expand the logistics sector.
Chairman Gwadar Port Noorul Haq Baloch said that the new tariff structure will increase employment opportunities in Balochistan and further accelerate trade activities.
