Australian Open (Sports Desk):Eighteen-year-old American tennis star Iva Jovic delivered one of the biggest surprises of her career on Friday by defeating two-time Grand Slam finalist Jasmine Paolini.
Jovic beat the seventh seed Paolini 6-2, 7-6 (7/3) to advance to the Round of 16. She will now face Yulia Potentseva of Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals.
After the match, Jovic said the victory came after long hours of hard work and several tough losses, and she executed her best strategy to win today’s match.
The 18-year-old Jovic won her first WTA title in 2025 at the age of 17 and has already reached the Auckland semifinals and Hobart final in the new season.
