Very High Level of Risk Remains in the Strait of Hormuz, Concerns Over Maritime Security

London (Monitoring Desk) The British Maritime Agency has warned that the level of risk in the Strait of Hormuz and adjacent waterways remains extremely serious.

In its statement, the agency said that a significant decline in maritime traffic has been observed in the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman, and the Arabian Sea, while the threat of piracy in these key routes also remains at a severe level.

According to the agency, several commercial vessels were seized during late April and early May, some of which are still under detention. An oil tanker was reportedly stopped near the coast of Yemen and taken to an unknown location, with its current status still unconfirmed.

The report further stated that threats from naval mines and incidents of interference with satellite navigation systems continue in the region, further disrupting maritime movement.

In the nearby areas of the Bab el-Mandeb and the Gulf of Aden, commercial shipping activity remains relatively stable; however, security concerns and threats continue to persist.
