New York City (Monitoring Desk) Afghanistan’s acting permanent representative to the United Nations, Nasir Ahmad Faiq, has strongly criticized the Taliban government, calling it terrorist, illegitimate, and anti-people.
He completely rejected the Taliban’s claim to Afghanistan’s seat at the United Nations, stating that representation in the global body belongs only to governments that come to power in accordance with the will of the people.
In a statement shared on social media, he said that over the past five years, the Taliban government has neither fulfilled the demands of the Afghan people nor cooperated with the international community. According to him, instability, insecurity, and the activities of terrorist groups have increased in Afghanistan.
Nasir Ahmad Faiq further said that there is no stable or legitimate national system in the country, while corruption, unemployment, targeted killings, and terrorism have risen to alarming levels. He questioned on what basis the Taliban are demanding representation at the United Nations in such circumstances.
According to experts, this strong reaction reflects the deep international concerns and lack of trust regarding the Taliban’s governance, which has left Afghanistan facing diplomatic isolation and economic challenges.
