Venezuela’s Acting President Delsi Rodriguez Holds First Call With Trump

Washington/Caracas (Monitoring Desk): Venezuela’s Acting President Delsi Rodriguez confirmed that she had a long and cordial telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, marking their first contact following the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro.

Rodriguez told Telegram that the discussion took place in a mutual atmosphere of respect, covering several key issues. President Trump described the call from the Oval Office as “excellent,” noting that it marked progress toward establishing better relations with Venezuela.

President Maduro and his wife are currently held in a U.S. federal prison facing drug-related charges, with the next hearing scheduled for March 17. Rodriguez emphasized that Venezuela is now moving toward a “new political era.”
