Trump Threatens Iran: Will Target Energy Infrastructure if Strait of Hormuz Not Reopened

Washington (Monitoring Desk): U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Iran that if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened within 48 hours and an agreement is not reached, the United States will carry out military action against Iran’s power plants, oil wells, and desalination facilities.

In a message posted on the social media platform X (Twitter), Trump stated that the U.S. is engaged in serious negotiations with a new Iranian government to end its military operations in the country, and significant progress has been made. He added that while Iran is likely to reach an agreement, if it does not, the U.S. will end its presence in Iran by completely destroying all key energy infrastructure.

The president said this action would be in retaliation for the numerous American soldiers and other individuals killed by Iran during the past 47 years of the “era of terror.”

According to Arab media, Trump did not specify which power plants would be targeted, though the largest facilities are likely to be hit first.

This statement comes as tensions escalate, with the conflict between the U.S. and Israel against Iran entering its 31st day. Following Trump’s threat, the Iranian military announced that if their fuel and energy infrastructure are attacked, they will target all U.S. energy infrastructure in the region.
