US Signals Willingness for Direct Talks with Iran

New York (Monitoring Desk): Morgan Ortagus, adviser to the US Mission at the United Nations and former State Department spokesperson, has confirmed that the United States remains ready for formal negotiations with Iran. However, she stressed that the process will move forward only if Tehran shows readiness for direct and result-oriented dialogue.

Addressing a UN Security Council session, Ortagus clarified that Washington will not conduct negotiations publicly or through the media. She said President Donald Trump, during his terms in office, has extended a diplomatic hand toward Iran and has not closed the door to dialogue.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, stated that Tehran remains committed to principled diplomacy and genuine negotiations. He emphasized that France, Britain, and the United States must now take concrete and practical steps to build trust.
