Washington (Monitoring Desk): Hopes for the revival of life in the war-torn Palestinian territory of Gaza have increased following the formal implementation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan and the announcement of the establishment of a Peace Council. President Trump confirmed the creation of the Peace Council and expressed support for a Palestinian technocratic government.
However, the 20-point plan, which had previously received approval from the United Nations Security Council, faces several major obstacles.
According to the Associated Press, if the plan succeeds, Gaza Strip will be rebuilt under international supervision on a non-military basis, potentially paving the way for Palestinian autonomy. In case of failure, Gaza could remain unstable for a long time, with certain areas remaining under Hamas control, Israeli military presence continuing, and the population left homeless, unemployed, and reliant on international aid due to restrictions on travel abroad.
