US Considers Seizing Iranian Oil Tankers to Increase Pressure on Tehran

Washington (Monitoring Desk): According to US officials, the American administration is exploring various measures to pressure Iran into compliance, including the possible seizure of additional Iranian oil-carrying vessels.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the US Treasury has already sanctioned more than 20 ships transporting Iranian oil this year, which could potentially be targeted for seizure.

The Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security has noted that satellite images show tunnels leading to Iran’s Isfahan nuclear site being buried, indicating Tehran’s concern about potential US or Israeli strikes.

This development comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in Washington to meet with President Donald Trump. Their discussions are expected to focus on security and regional issues, including Iran and the situation in Palestinian territories.

Ahead of the meeting, Netanyahu consulted with Steve Vitkov and Jared Kushner regarding the status of negotiations with Iran and possible agreements. According to Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the parties also reviewed regional matters and details of the first round of talks with Iran held last Friday.

The visit occurs amid tensions in the West Bank and ongoing US-Iran nuclear negotiations.
