Tel Aviv (Turk Khabar): The United States, in coordination with its allied countries, is seriously considering hosting an international conference for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. According to foreign media reports, this development aims to reinvigorate ceasefire efforts following the recent deadlock in negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
Sources say Washington is being considered as a potential venue for the conference, which is expected to take place in early January 2026. Consultations regarding the event include several Arab and regional countries, including Egypt.
According to sources, Egypt is playing a central role as a key partner in this entire process, actively facilitating not only peace efforts but also reconstruction initiatives and communication between the parties.
Reports indicate that the proposed conference aims to operationalize the second phase of the US plan for Gaza’s post-war recovery, with a focus on rebuilding destroyed infrastructure.
This development is also linked to recent consultations underway in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where the possible deployment of an international stabilization force in Gaza has been discussed. The force would aim to improve the security situation, enable humanitarian assistance, and initiate development projects.
Sources further revealed that a proposed peace council would oversee reconstruction funds and development contracts, with consideration being given to involving global technology and logistics companies.
These efforts are emerging at a time when the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza continues to face challenges and disagreements persist over interim administrative arrangements. US officials believe that reconstruction and job creation can stimulate economic activity in the region and lay the foundation for long-term peace.
