New York (Monitoring Desk): United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed serious concern over the use of violence and force against protesters in Iran.
He noted that several individuals have been killed or injured during recent incidents, emphasizing that the fundamental rights of freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and protest must be upheld.
The Secretary-General urged Iranian authorities to exercise restraint and avoid unnecessary use of force, and stressed the importance of restoring communication facilities to ensure public access to information.
