Tehran (Monitoring Desk): During the ongoing conflict in Iran, reports indicate that on Wednesday, the U.S. and Israel temporarily provided protection to two senior Iranian officials to ensure that ongoing negotiations with Tehran were not disrupted.
According to Israeli Channel 14, the officials are Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The protection is reported to be in place for at least five days, covering the current negotiation period; however, no formal confirmation has been issued by U.S., Israeli, or Iranian authorities.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed distrust toward U.S. diplomacy, stating that the U.S. prioritized the conflict on two occasions, while emphasizing full confidence in Araghchi’s diplomatic role and Ghalibaf’s constitutional duties. Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei told CNN that Iran is ready to hear sustainable proposals to end the war.
