Ankara (Turkey News) — Turkish airlines have suspended all flights to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan until March 6 due to escalating tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran.
Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, stated that authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have taken precautionary measures to ensure aviation safety. He noted that notices to air missions remain in effect, and Iran, Israel, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and southern Syrian airspace have been officially closed. Civil aviation continues only in certain parts of Oman, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, emergency air corridors are being opened in the United Arab Emirates, and Emirates and Etihad Airways are preparing to resume flights on Monday. Uraloglu reported that a Turkish Airlines aircraft is currently grounded at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport, while a Pegasus Airlines plane is also present there. No A Jet aircraft is stranded in restricted areas, whereas a Tailwind Airlines plane is in Iraq under lease to an Iraqi company.
Turkish carriers are adopting alternative routes to avoid restricted airspace and maintain the safety of their active flights.
