Turkey Intensifies Efforts to Reduce Regional Tensions

Ankara/Istanbul (Turkey News) — Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke on Monday with his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot via telephone to discuss recent developments in the region, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.

The sources said both ministers focused on ways to de-escalate tensions and considered practical steps to end ongoing attacks. Earlier, Fidan also held phone conversations with his Azerbaijani and Bulgarian counterparts.

On Saturday, the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran, killing several high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran carried out drone and missile attacks on Israel and certain Gulf countries hosting US military bases, further escalating tensions in the region.
