Ankara (Turkish News) – Former Turkish Vice President and MP Fuat Oktay told reporters that the ongoing uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz has increased the importance of the Middle Corridor project, given its potential impact on global markets and transport routes.
Oktay stated that Türkiye is confident the Middle Corridor project will become central and highly significant. He said, “Especially the development route starting from the Persian Gulf, passing through Iraq, and extending to Türkiye has demonstrated how critical it is.”
He further explained that oil pipelines from Qatar and other oil-producing countries being transported via Türkiye to other destinations enhance the country’s strategic appeal. Oktay noted that while these opportunities open new doors for Türkiye, how they are utilized remains a separate matter.
In this context, he emphasized the special importance of the Zangazur and Middle Corridors for Türkiye’s connectivity. Oktay expressed hope that the unrest and disorder in the region would not persist for long and that the issues would be resolved.
