Washington (Monitoring Desk): US President Donald Trump has warned that if a deal is not reached with Iran, various scenarios could emerge, while stressing that Iran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
Speaking to the media at the White House, the US President said that under any potential agreement with Iran, Tehran would not be permitted to possess nuclear weapons. He added that if a deal is finalized, the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened immediately.
President Trump clarified that he is not seeking a meeting with Iran’s Supreme Leader, although such a meeting could become possible if conditions for an agreement develop. He said details of any potential deal with Iran would be made public soon.
Discussing the situation in Lebanon, the US President said that establishing peace in the region would be beneficial for Lebanon and emphasized the need to closely monitor the situation. He also said he has discussed various aspects related to Hezbollah.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, President Trump said that dialogue and reconciliation between parties are necessary to resolve the conflict. He suggested that a meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian presidents could be a positive step forward.
Earlier media reports also claimed that the US President had told close advisers he does not want tensions with Iran to escalate into a full-scale war unless US troops are directly attacked. According to reports, his policy is focused on avoiding large-scale conflict in the Middle East and containing limited tensions.
