Washington (Monitoring Desk): U.S. President Donald Trump described his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “excellent” and indicated significant progress on the Ukraine peace plan, although some issues remain unresolved.
President Trump stated that during the meeting, discussions took place on several points of the 20-point peace plan, and they are very close to agreement. Ukrainian President Zelensky also termed the meeting a positive development and confirmed that U.S. security guarantees have been fully agreed upon.
Trump noted that security guarantees are approximately 95% complete but declined to go into detailed percentages. He added that a trilateral meeting between Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine could take place at an appropriate time, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has also expressed willingness. According to Trump, he had a detailed 2-hour 30-minute phone conversation with Putin, who supports holding a trilateral meeting.
Trump mentioned that some unresolved issues remain, including the establishment of a free trade zone in Donbas and land ownership disputes, but he is close to resolving them. He emphasized that it is now time to finalize an agreement, praising Ukraine for its bravery and stating that the time has come to end the conflict.
The U.S. President also offered to address the Ukrainian Parliament, which Zelensky welcomed, stating that the United States will always be welcome and that this cooperation will be constructive.
