Islamabad (Turkiah News): Supreme Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has stated that tax cases affecting the national economy will be prioritized for swift resolution in the future.
During a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Justice Afridi, strategies for expedited decisions on major tax cases were discussed. The meeting included Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, FBR Chairman, FBR Legal Member, and other senior officials.
The Chief Justice noted that prolonged tax cases limit financial capacity and undermine investor confidence. He emphasized that delays in tax litigation are detrimental to investment and economic stability.
It was decided that high-value, long-pending tax cases will be handled on a priority basis. The meeting also explored institutional reforms to strengthen coordination between the judiciary and tax authorities, ensure consistency in rulings, and facilitate faster decisions.
