Somalia Warns on Israel–Somaliland Relations

Mogadishu (Monitoring Desk): Dr. Abdirahman Badiu, Adviser on Reconciliation to the Somali President, has warned that growing ties between Israel and Somaliland could become a serious issue for Somalia if they escalate into direct military or intelligence cooperation.

In an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya and Al Hadath, Dr. Badiu stated that such a scenario would present Somalia with a real challenge far more complex than traditional diplomatic responses. He questioned whether Somalia would rely only on political and legal measures or take strong actions to safeguard national security and regional unity.

Dr. Badiu further emphasized that any military deployments or surveillance bases along northern coasts would be considered a direct provocation by Mogadishu. Such actions could increase regional tensions, in an area already sensitive due to the competition among powers in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
