Washington (Monitoring Desk): US President Donald Trump has announced the completion of the formation of a “Peace Council” in the Gaza Strip and confirmed his support for a Palestinian technocratic government there.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump said, “I am proud to announce the formation of the Peace Council. The names of the council members will be revealed soon, but I can say with full confidence that this is the greatest and most distinguished council ever established.”
In another post, President Trump stated that, in his capacity as head of the Peace Council, he supports the newly appointed Palestinian technocratic government, which will function as the “National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.” According to him, this committee will receive full backing from the Council’s High Representative to manage Gaza during the transitional phase.
President Trump further said that, with the cooperation of Egypt, Türkiye, and Qatar, a comprehensive demilitarization agreement will be reached with Hamas, under which the handover of Hamas’s weapons and the dismantling of tunnels will be ensured.
