Islamabad (Turkish News): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Chris Elias, President of Global Development at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, along with his delegation, to discuss Pakistan’s polio eradication efforts and bilateral cooperation in detail.
The Prime Minister stated that efforts to completely eliminate polio in Pakistan will continue with the support of trusted partners like the Gates Foundation, and Pakistan will always remember Bill Gates’ contributions to eradicating polio. He also expressed gratitude for the support of Muslim brother countries, particularly Saudi Arabia.
He emphasized that the government is taking practical steps with a comprehensive strategy and an effective team and is fully committed to eradicating polio. Despite notable successes, urgent additional measures remain necessary in the fight against the disease.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the federal government is working in full coordination with the provinces to ensure the reach of polio teams nationwide, and polio-related programs will continue under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
He instructed the Federal Ministry of Health to collaborate with all relevant agencies to formulate recommendations for polio eradication, public awareness, and vaccine distribution.
