Paris (Monitoring Desk): The second day of U.S.-brokered negotiations between Syria and Israel is expected to begin today in Paris, though prospects for reaching a formal security agreement remain uncertain.
According to Israeli sources, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears less enthusiastic about the talks. Sources say this is largely due to Syria’s demand that Israeli forces fully withdraw from territories occupied after December 8, 2024.
Syria has also demanded the removal of newly established military positions and checkpoints in its southern regions. Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Netanyahu is unwilling to accept these demands, while the U.S. administration considers them reasonable.
