Pakistan Condemns Violence Against Minorities in India During Christmas

Islamabad (Turkiya News): Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned incidents of vandalism and violence against minorities in India during Christmas, describing them as highly alarming.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andarabi stated that these incidents during Christmas were carried out with state backing and also targeted Muslims. He added that attacks on Muslim homes deepen the sense of fear and alienation. The spokesperson urged the international community to take appropriate measures to protect the fundamental rights of minorities in India and to take notice of such incidents.

According to Indian media reports, Hindutva-linked extremists targeted Christmas celebrations in several cities on December 25. Religious events of the Christian community were disrupted at multiple locations, and decorations were damaged.

South Asia Times reported that in Nalbari district of Assam, vandalism occurred at St. Mary’s School, while in Panigaon, individuals associated with Bajrang Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad were accused of violence and creating unrest. In Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Christmas decorations at Magneto Mall were damaged, and in Palakkad district of Kerala, a children’s Christmas carol group was attacked, allegedly by an RSS worker.

The report highlighted that in recent years, violent incidents against religious minorities, particularly Muslims and Christians, have increased in India, raising growing concerns on social media about the protection of minorities’ lives, property, and religious freedom.
