Baku (Turkiye News): Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the growing importance of the Organization of Turkic States is highly significant in the context of recent regional and global changes.
Speaking to the media after a meeting of prime ministers and vice presidents of member states, he said that despite rising geopolitical tensions and global uncertainty, the organization is progressing rapidly.
He noted that the organization has made remarkable progress in recent years, and with the promotion of peace in the South Caucasus, further improvement in ties between Türkiye and other Turkic states is expected.
Cevdet Yılmaz emphasized that in a time when global institutions and rules are weakening, the importance of regional cooperation and integration has increased, and the organization is providing an effective platform for stability and shared development.
Highlighting the strong economic performance of member states, he said these countries are growing at nearly double the global average rate—around 6% compared to the global growth rate of approximately 3%.
The Vice President further added that to boost intra-regional trade, there is a need to simplify customs systems, enhance trade agreements, and improve transport connectivity to strengthen economic cooperation further.
