Opening of Islam Safarli Street in Baku, Modern Urban Development Project Completed

Baku (Turkiye Khabar) President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and members of their family participated on May 1 in the inauguration ceremony of the reconstructed Islam Safarli Street in the Sabail and Yasamal districts of Baku.

According to the state news agency AZERTAC, the head of the Baku City Executive Authority, Eldar Azizov, briefed the President and First Lady on the details of the project.

It was stated that Islam Safarli Street, including a section of Nigar Rafibeyli Street starting from Azerbaijan Avenue, has been fully redeveloped and modernized up to Mirza Aga Aliyev Street. A convenient pedestrian access route to the Central Park has also been provided from this area.

Under the project, the entire infrastructure of eight adjoining streets was fully restored, water and sewage lines were upgraded with a modern system, and gas lines were relocated underground. In addition, building renovations, green area development, and public seating spaces were also created for citizens.

As a result of the project, direct pedestrian access from Fountain Square to the Winter Park has been made possible, while historic buildings in the area further enhance its attractiveness.

Authorities stated that converting streets into pedestrian-friendly zones will also benefit local businesses, cafés, and restaurants, creating new opportunities for small enterprises.

Such projects are being continuously implemented under the policy of equipping Baku with modern urban facilities and providing a comfortable environment for both citizens and tourists, significantly improving the city’s beauty and convenience.
