Lahore (Turkiya News): Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, stated that the behavior of individuals coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reflects a lack of respect, emphasizing that anyone who does not honor sacred institutions cannot be expected to respect an institution like the Punjab Assembly. He added that no one can be allowed to set fire to his home and claim it as a political right.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, the Speaker said that all activities in the House are conducted under rules and regulations, with proceedings carried out according to established assembly rules. He emphasized that both the government and opposition are treated equally.
While welcoming the visit of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan noted that it was informed that Suhail Afridi intended to carry out organizational activities in the Assembly, which require proper authorization. He highlighted that the Punjab Assembly is located in the Red Zone, where strict security parameters apply, and political parties must maintain communication nationwide to strengthen the federation.
The Speaker criticized certain behaviors observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s assembly, noting past complaints about inappropriate conduct even involving women. He stated that individuals accompanying Suhail Afridi included those named in cases of attacks and arson, some of whom were convicted, and many lacked proper permits or identification, making it impossible to compromise the Assembly’s sanctity.
Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan emphasized that the Assembly is the sacred center of democracy. He condemned the use of inappropriate language against Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and called the conduct of some individuals from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a reflection of negative mindset.
To ensure accountability, he said a High-Power Inquiry Committee has been formed, and all parts of the Punjab Assembly are monitored through CCTV cameras. Strict security measures and SOPs are in place to protect the Assembly, and everyone must respect its boundaries.
The Speaker criticized PTI’s stance that public unrest is justified by the arrest of their leader, stating that the cases against the founder involve extraordinary acts, including attacks on multiple military installations and the arson of political offices, highlighting that May 9 was a coordinated plan.
He further stated that the Pakistan Armed Forces are a national pride, and no one has the right to harm this pride. Such actions cannot be justified as a political right, and similar behavior has been observed abroad at sacred places.
