Islamabad (Turkey News) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the United States and Iran. According to the Prime Minister, the Islamabad agreement will come into immediate effect, under which the United States will end the naval blockade while Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Shehbaz Sharif said that as a mediator he has also endorsed this agreement. According to him, a historic ceremony will be held in Switzerland on June 19 in this regard, while technical-level negotiations will also begin from the same day.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the leadership of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, and said that this agreement will prove to be the foundation of shared prosperity in the region.
He also congratulated US President Donald Trump and said that his diplomacy played a role in preventing a major potential conflict. The Prime Minister also appreciated the services of the US negotiating team.
Shehbaz Sharif further said that due to the tireless efforts, selfless services, and decisive role of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, this historic development was made possible.
