Islamabad (Turkey News) President of the State Asif Ali Zardari has welcomed the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and said that Pakistan has played a historic diplomatic role for peace in the region.
President Zardari termed the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States as an important development for the region and said that not war but peace is the only path to development, while conflicts cause severe damage to the regional and global economy.
He paid tribute to the diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the military leadership, and said that Pakistan adopted a balanced and principled stance during the crisis. He emphasized that all parties should ensure full implementation of the agreement.
The President said that the Islamabad agreement can become the foundation of sustainable peace, and the real success belongs to those who ended the war. According to him, regional countries should now focus on development and prosperity.
He also appreciated the efforts of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt, China, and Russia, and said that peace is the guarantee of development and stability. Pakistan is committed to peace and prosperity in the region, and efforts for a final peace agreement should be further accelerated.
