Istanbul (Turkiye Khabar) Emine Erdoğan warmly received Queen Mathilde of Belgium at the historic Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul, where both dignitaries held a cordial meeting in a friendly atmosphere. The meeting took place during the Belgian economic delegation’s visit to Türkiye.
At the beginning of the meeting, both leaders exchanged warm greetings, shook hands, and briefly conversed before posing for photographs. Later, they toured various sections of the palace, including the Crystal Staircase and the Medhal Hall.
During the visit, the two dignitaries also viewed an exhibition titled “Century Old Elegance,” which presents Türkiye’s centuries-old cultural heritage in a modern style. The exhibition highlights traditional crafts, textile weaving, and arts connected to Turkish culture.
Emine Erdoğan also presented Queen Mathilde with a specially handcrafted brooch featuring beautiful motifs of honeysuckle, chrysanthemum, and tulip. The brooch was prepared within a week using traditional embroidery and lacework techniques.
Both leaders also examined outfits from Turkish fashion designer Özgür Masur’s “Anatolia Collection,” which was developed after three years of research and showcases traditional crafts from different regions of Türkiye in a modern design.
After the meeting, Emine Erdoğan said she was pleased to meet Queen Mathilde and expressed hope that the visit would further strengthen friendship as well as cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries.
