Aden (Monitoring Desk): Governor of Hadramout, Salem Al-Khanbashi, on Sunday announced his return to the province and the formal resumption of provincial administrative duties from Seiyun. This development is being described as a significant step toward stabilizing the security situation in Hadramout.
According to Governor Al-Khanbashi, the Homeland Shield Forces have taken full control of Mukalla’s Riyan International Airport. Under the leadership of Third Brigade Commander Fahd Bamaman, the forces have practically assumed airport security responsibilities and successfully neutralized all resisting groups operating around the Riyan axis.
On Sunday, Homeland Shield Forces entered the city of Mukalla, Riyan Airport, and coastal areas. The forces also announced the launch of a process to collect heavy weapons from most groups affiliated with the Transitional Council in Al-Mahrah.
Earlier on Saturday, Yemen’s Second Military Region had confirmed securing the city of Mukalla, its outskirts, and all military and civilian installations. The Second Military Region’s Media Center stated that the Hadrami Elite Forces, Hadramout Protection Forces, and Homeland Shield Forces have ensured complete security of all military and civilian facilities. Citizens have been urged to avoid military camps and refrain from spreading rumors in the interest of public safety.
Meanwhile, according to field sources of Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath, Homeland Shield Forces have completed securing Seiyun and other cities of Wadi Hadramout along with key installations, and are now moving toward remaining Transitional Council strongholds in plateau areas and along the highway linking Seiyun and Mukalla.
