France (Monitoring Desk) French President Emmanuel Macron has strongly criticized U.S. policies toward European allies. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Macron said that the United States is trying to weaken Europe and make it subservient.
Macron emphasized that Europe remains committed to the United Nations and will express its objections peacefully against any policy based on the law of power. He stressed that accepting a new colonial-style approach is illogical and that Europe has the tools to respond when its respect is disregarded.
“We prioritize respect over bullying and the rule of law over brutality,” Macron said, asserting that Europe has the right to take measures to protect its sovereignty in global affairs.
