Ankara (Monitoring Desk): A plane flying from Ankara to Tripoli crashed in Turkey, killing five people on board, including Libya’s military chief.
According to the Turkish Interior Minister, the aircraft departed at 8:10 PM and lost contact at 8:52 PM. The plane had reported an emergency landing but contact could not be reestablished. Later, Turkish media confirmed that the wreckage had been located.
Reports indicate that the plane, which took off from Ankara’s Esenboğa Airport, experienced a sudden technical failure and lost contact with air traffic control 30 minutes into the flight. The aircraft attempted to return to Ankara but crashed before it could land.
Authorities confirmed that among the five casualties was Libya’s military chief.
