Iran Files Complaint in UN Over US Action on Vessel

Tehran (Monitoring Desk) Iran has filed a formal complaint with the United Nations against a US operation involving an Iranian commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman.

According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the seizure of the commercial ship and the taking of its crew as hostages by the United States is an illegal and aggressive act, in clear violation of international law and ceasefire agreements.

Tehran has urged UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the International Maritime Organization to intervene immediately, warning that the incident could have serious consequences for regional stability.

Iran demanded the immediate release of the vessel and its crew, alleging that threats were also issued to the crew members and their families during the operation.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry described the action as equivalent to piracy and terrorism at sea, holding the United States fully responsible for the deteriorating situation in the region.

Tehran further stated that it will take all necessary measures to protect its national interests and security.
