Internet Shutdown in Iran Continues for Two Weeks, 3,117 Deaths Reported

Tehran (Monitoring Desk):Authorities in Iran have imposed a nationwide internet shutdown that has lasted for more than two weeks.

Human rights activists fear the blackout is intended to conceal the true extent of government crackdowns and the number of casualties resulting from anti-government protests. According to monitoring agency NetBlocks, some users have occasional, limited access to government-approved sites, while most of the country remains offline.

On Wednesday, Iranian officials, for the first time, reported an official death toll of 3,117 during the protests, including members of security forces as well as innocent bystanders.
