Syria (Turk Khabar): Fierce clashes have erupted between the Syrian Arab Army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the outskirts of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo, resulting in civilian casualties and reports of large-scale displacement.
According to Arab media, at least two civilians were killed after SDF shelling hit the Jamiliya neighborhood of Aleppo, spreading panic in the area and forcing many families to move to safer locations.
The Syrian state news agency SANA reported that SDF forces opened fire from their positions in the Ashrafieh neighborhood, targeting internal security checkpoints near the Sheikhhan and Lairamoun roundabouts. As a result, four civilians and Civil Defense volunteers were injured.
Due to the clashes, dozens of families have been forced to flee their homes. Amid security concerns, the Gaziantep–Aleppo main highway has been temporarily closed near the Lairamoun and Sheikhhan roundabouts.
Syrian state television reported that SDF snipers fired at an internal security checkpoint near Sheikhhan roundabout, wounding two security personnel. Meanwhile, the SDF claimed that the Syrian army attacked the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods with heavy and medium weapons, prompting a response.
The SDF Media Center stated that two of its members were injured in an attack on a checkpoint in Aleppo, holding groups affiliated with the Ministry of Defense responsible, and placing full responsibility for the clashes on the Syrian government.
On the other hand, the Syrian Ministry of Defense rejected the SDF’s claims, saying the army did not target SDF positions. Instead, it accused the SDF of launching sudden attacks around Ashrafieh, to which security forces responded.
According to SANA, following the latest clashes, further displacement of families from areas around the Lairamoun neighborhood is ongoing, while the security situation in the area remains tense.
