High-Level Session on Urban Connectivity and Reconstruction Held at World Urban Forum in Baku

Baku (Turkiye Khabar) Baku hosted a high-level session during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum focused on the theme: “City at the Heart of Urban Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation.”

During the session, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that new transport corridors, railway lines, highways, energy projects, and digital networks are connecting reconstruction zones with broader regional and global economic systems. He added that such investments are boosting trade, tourism, employment, and regional stability.

Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov stated that future cities will not be defined only by size, but by energy efficiency, technology, and regional connectivity, calling energy pipelines and digital infrastructure the “new arteries” of the global system.

Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov highlighted that Azerbaijan has resolved major regional conflicts in recent decades and significantly reduced poverty levels, describing it as a sign of economic progress.

Anar Guliyev, head of the country’s urban planning and reconstruction committee, said Azerbaijan is undergoing large-scale reconstruction, including rebuilding destroyed areas and implementing modern development projects.

Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev noted that Azerbaijan has become a key transport hub in Eurasia, with more than 17 million tons of cargo passing through the country last year, stressing the importance of how cities evolve alongside these corridors.
