Global Community Must Take Immediate and Effective Steps to Help War-Displaced People: Pope’s Christmas Message

Vatican City (Monitoring Desk): According to the latest reports from Vatican City, Pope Leo, in his first special Christmas address, expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing the conditions of the Palestinian people as extremely dire. He said that innocent civilians living in war-affected areas are facing severe hardships.

During the spiritual Christmas service marking the birth of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), Pope Leo said that the birth of Jesus teaches humanity that God sent a message of love and peace among people, but in many parts of the world today, this message has turned into sorrow and suffering.

He questioned how the world could remain silent about the plight of displaced families in Gaza who are living in temporary tents and enduring extreme cold, rain and strong winds.

The Pope noted that he generally avoids political topics in his sermons, but said it was necessary on this occasion to speak out for the protection of human lives and to awaken the global conscience.

He appealed to the international community to take immediate and effective measures to assist people displaced by wars. He also emphasized that a lasting solution to long-standing conflicts is only possible through peace, justice and respect for human dignity.

Addressing thousands of people at St. Peter’s Basilica, the Pope expressed sorrow over the destruction, human suffering and the problems of displaced people caused by conflicts around the world, and offered prayers for peace.

He added that countless families have been torn apart due to wars and vulnerable communities are facing severe trials, stressing that the world must unite to establish peace.
