Direct Talks Underway Between Iran and U.S.: Trump

Washington (Monitoring Desk): Amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States, President Donald Trump has stated that direct talks are ongoing between the two countries, warning that failure to reach an agreement could have serious consequences for the region.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “We are currently talking to Iran. If we reach a solution, it will be fantastic, and if not, likely some bad things will happen there.”

The U.S. president added, “Our ships are currently heading toward Iran, the big ships—the largest and best. We are talking with Iran and will see how things develop.”

The arrival of U.S. aircraft carriers and supporting warships in the Middle East has heightened concerns that military action could be taken if necessary, particularly following Iranian officials’ threats related to handling protests.

Although Trump did not immediately follow through on threats of direct military intervention, he later demanded concessions regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Both countries have expressed readiness to resume diplomatic negotiations over the long-standing nuclear dispute.
