Diplomatic Corps Visit to Liberated Areas of Azerbaijan

Shusha (Turkiye Khabar) The visit of representatives of the diplomatic corps to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan continued on its second day, during which the delegation visited the historic city of Shusha.

According to the state news agency AZERTAC, the delegation also visited the under-construction “New Shusha Mosque,” where they were briefed on the ongoing construction work.

Aydin Karimov, the special representative of Shusha, provided details of the project, saying that the foundation of the mosque was laid in 2021 by President Ilham Aliyev. According to the design plan, the mosque structure symbolizes the number 8, representing Victory Day, while its two minarets symbolize the number 11, referring to the month of the city’s liberation. The minarets are planned to be 72 meters high.

He said that Shusha holds a prominent position in terms of historic mosques and architecture, and the new mosque will be an important addition to this heritage.

Later, foreign guests visited the Kazanchy Church and also inspected the Shusha branch of the National Carpet Museum.

According to the report, the museum building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century, and restoration work has been ongoing since 2021 under the Haydar Aliyev Foundation.
