Islamabad (Turkey News): According to the Ministry of Finance’s annual Fiscal Policy Statement, the debt burden on every Pakistani citizen increased by 13 percent in the last fiscal year, reaching 333,000 rupees.
The report stated that the per capita debt for the fiscal year 2023-24 was 294,098 rupees, which rose to 333,341 rupees in 2024-25, marking an increase of approximately 39,000 rupees per citizen in a single year. This calculation is based on the country’s population of 241.5 million.
The Ministry of Finance noted that during the period from June 2024 to June 2025, the total public debt rose from 7.12 trillion rupees to 8.05 trillion rupees, primarily due to higher interest payments and fluctuations in the foreign exchange rate.
