Big Message from Iran Ahead of Geneva Talks

Tehran (Monitoring Desk): Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has stated that an agreement with the United States is possible, provided that diplomacy is given top priority. His remarks come two days before the expected negotiations in Geneva, a development being described as a significant step in relations between the two countries.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Araghchi made it clear that Iran is ready to resume talks with the United States with the determination to reach a fair and balanced agreement in the shortest possible time. He emphasized that Tehran wants the dialogue to be productive and based on mutual respect.

Earlier, Majid Takht-Ravanchi also indicated that Iran is prepared to take the necessary steps toward an agreement. He noted that a new phase of negotiations is about to begin and that the opportunity should not be wasted.

Iranian officials warned that any form of military action against the country could have serious consequences. However, they stressed that Tehran prefers a diplomatic path and aims to reach an understanding as soon as possible.

According to state television, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has begun military exercises near the country’s southern coastal areas close to Gulf waters. Authorities described the drills as part of routine preparedness measures.

Tehran maintains that it has no intention of acquiring military nuclear capability. Iran is a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and considers its peaceful nuclear program, particularly for energy purposes, to be its legitimate right.

Meanwhile, a recent report by the International Crisis Group stated that the third round of talks, mediated by Oman, is expected to take place in Geneva on Thursday. However, due to deep differences, reaching a final agreement may not be easy.

Sources say that Araghchi, who will lead the Iranian delegation, is likely to present an initial draft to the U.S. team. The American delegation may include Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, giving the talks unusual significance.

Observers believe that the Geneva meeting could play a crucial role in easing tensions between the two countries and shaping the future direction of their relations.
