Baku (Turkey News) The Special Committee on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats of Azerbaijan’s National Assembly has strongly reacted to a CNN report, calling it organized and intentional disinformation.
According to Azerbaijan’s state news agency, the committee said that a report published by CNN on June 5, 2026—claiming that Azerbaijan played a role in military movements through a covert network during the Iran–Israel war—is completely based on unverified sources.
The committee stated that such reports are an attempt to damage the peace process in the region, Azerbaijan’s national interests, and its international reputation, and are part of a coordinated misinformation campaign.
It further said that spreading such information during important diplomatic and political moments is not a new phenomenon, and similar allegations have been made in the past as well.
The statement also noted that initial analysis shows the report was rapidly spread across various social media platforms after publication, indicating a coordinated campaign.
The committee claimed that the sources of this content may be linked to individuals previously known for taking positions against Azerbaijan, though no further details were provided.
Azerbaijani officials clarified that there is no foreign military presence or base in the country, nor is its territory being used against any other state.
The committee urged CNN to issue a clarification regarding the report or present evidence supporting its claims.
