Azerbaijan and European Bank agree to strengthen cooperation agreements

Baku (Turkey News) Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance Sahil Babayev met with a delegation led by Elisabeth Falcetti, Executive Director for Turkey and the Caucasus at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Finance, the meeting included detailed discussions on expanding cooperation, reviewing ongoing projects, and proposing new initiatives.

The Finance Minister said that partnership with the EBRD plays an important role in the country’s sustainable socio-economic development. He added that under the bank’s 2025–2030 country strategy, work is underway on economic diversification, private sector development, green economy, and strengthening regional connectivity.

According to figures, the EBRD has so far invested approximately €3.712 billion in 202 projects in Azerbaijan, while the current investment portfolio has reached €898 million, a major portion of which is linked to the private sector.

During the meeting, infrastructure projects in Ganja, particularly water supply and sewage systems, were highlighted as important, with emphasis placed on their timely completion.

Azerbaijan also described cooperation with international donor funds as an important part of mutual partnership.
