Azerbaijan and Armenia Leaders Meet in Abu Dhabi, Agree to Further Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Azerbaijan (Turkey News) — Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Abu Dhabi. According to AZERTAC, both sides welcomed the progress made in implementing the outcomes of the Washington Peace Summit, hosted and overseen by U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

The leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining positive momentum in advancing routine processes between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Both sides acknowledged that their societies are experiencing tangible benefits of peace on the ground. They expressed satisfaction with the initiation of bilateral trade, ongoing exports of oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia, and the transit of grains and other goods from third countries to Armenia via Azerbaijani territory.

Azerbaijan and Armenia also agreed to explore further opportunities to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Additionally, the leaders praised mutual visits by civil society representatives and agreed on the need to expand confidence-building measures.

President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan also discussed the implementation of TRIPP and other connectivity projects. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further consolidate peace and stability and agreed to maintain contact to support the ongoing routine processes. Reports indicate that an extended session between the two leaders followed the initial meeting.
